I take pleasure in welcoming all new parents, students and community members to Le Bocage International School. LBIS is an evolving school and a very special place. We are extremely proud of the educational programme it offers and the great pace of development which has occurred since its founding in 1990.

LBIS combines an outstanding academic curriculum with an active and engaging programme of sports, cultural and performing arts activities. Our students consistently perform well in such challenging programmes as the International Baccalaureate and the International General Certificate of Secondary Education. In recent years we have seen a steadily increasing number of our IB candidates being awarded the full IB diploma. In November 2004 100% of our graduating class sat for the full IB Diploma with 78% of them awarded the full diploma. Our graduates are welcomed into universities in many different countries around the world.

The focus of our school is centred directly upon students and their learning. LBIS aspires to being an international school of excellence. This vision is guided by a transparent and compelling commitment to be a learning community which at its very heart celebrates daily the values of commitment, integrity, excellence, collaboration and love of learning. In this environment LBIS students rise to the expectation that they will challenge and exceed their own personal best - in other words, our students will push themselves beyond what they have already achieved, and in the process develop the self-confidence and will to become learners for life.

Our teachers, administrators and parents have recently forged together a far-sighted Strategic Plan to ensure that our mission is achieved and that LBIS continues to be an enjoyable and stimulating place to be for teachers and students alike.

We have designed this introduction to Le Bocage International School to provide you with a glimpse into our dynamic learning community. Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with the academic programmes, the support services, sports and cultural activities. In addition we have included a section on our immediate geography and Mauritius to give you a flavour of the area and country in which we are located.

On a personal note, I believe one of the most striking features of the LBIS community is its friendliness and the wonderful welcome we extend to new students and parents.
