What is CAS?
International Baccalaureate (IB) prepares students to be responsible citizens of the world and as such they need to be equipped with knowledge, skills and attitudes which can help them to face the challenges of life
Creativity, Action, Service, an essential element in every student’s Diploma Programme, provides a counterbalance to the rigors of a demanding academic programme. It involves students in experiential learning through a range of artistic, sporting, physical and service activities.

Aims Of CAS
CAS aims to develop students with the following learning outcomes:

  • Increase their awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses.
  • Undertake new challenges.
  • Plan and initiate activities.
  • Work collaboratively with others.
  • Show perseverance and commitment.
  • Engage with issues of global importance.
  • Consider the ethical implication of their actions.
  • Develop new skills.

Nasreen Razzak

  • CAS is  activity-oriented, not passive

  •  Activities  done for personal, financial gain or material benefit

  •  Passive pursuits such as visits to art exhibitions, museums, concerts

  •  Simple, tedious & repetitive work such as photocopying

  •  Filial duties (done for the family) and religious devotion

  •  Fund raising with no clearly defined end

  • Working in a nursing home when the CAS student

  • Has no idea of how the home operates

  • Is just making sandwiches

  • Has no contact with residents

  • Actually does no service for other people.
