The
High School – Forms 4-7
Welcome from Shekar Dewoo Principal of the High School

Welcome to the High School years of the Le Bocage International
School. The high school years are a bridge between middle school
and the real world. Our primary task is to ensure that our students
are able to make this transition successfully and that they leave
us prepared for university, college or the world of work. Students
are prepared through the formal curriculum as well as informally
by acquiring the habits, skills and awareness that will promote
the desire for continuous learning and improvement.
The high school programme at the Le Bocage International School
follows two world class curricula; the International General Certificate
of Secondary Education for Forms 4-5, and the International Baccalaureate
Diploma programme for Forms 6-7. Both of these programmes provide
a balanced curriculum that ensures all students have the opportunity
to develop interests and abilities no matter where their individual
strengths may lie.
Our students study eight subjects at IGCSE level and six for the
IB Diploma. IB Diploma students are actively sought by the world's
leading universities and each year IB graduates from the Le Bocage
International School enter good universities in Europe, South Africa,
North America and Australasia.
As well as the formal curriculum students have the opportunity to
enjoy extra curricula and other enrichment activities such as the
Model United Nations, Global Young World Leaders Workshops, Learning
Alliances with other schools both in Mauritius and overseas, Personal
Development schemes such as the Duke Of Edinburgh Awards, competitive
sport, public speaking and student journalism. All high school students
become involved in community service. During the IB years this is
expanded to include participation creativity and action pursuits
as required by the IB diploma programme. Student leadership and
governance is experienced through involved in the high school Student
Council. Through all these activities students develop values and
attitudes such as respect and tolerance which help them to play
a full part in the global community.
We are proud of the students which we help to mould and develop.
The typical Le Bocage International School graduate we hope has
a profile of tolerance, adaptability and enquiry and above all leaves
the school equipped with the skills and values necessary to become
a ‘citizen of a better world’.

INTERNATIONAL GENERAL CERTIFICATE OF SECONDARY EDUCATION
(IGCSE) (Forms 4 and 5)
The University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate (UCLES)
offers the IGCSE. This culminates in a series of external examinations
usually taken at the end of Form 5. Exams are graded on a scale
from A* (highest) to G (lowest passing grade) and examine not
only what a student knows but also how knowledge can be applied.
The IGCSE is equivalent to GCSE (formerly GCE ‘O’
level) in the UK and the School Certificate in Mauritius. IGCSE
assessment rewards positive achievement from both public examinations
and internally assessed coursework. Occasionally, the students
are allowed to re-sit to improve their results during the May/June
session.
