The Maths Department comprises of eight members. The team is known for its active participation in the good running of key school activities like pastoral care, extra curricular activities and staff welfare (Le Bocage International School Staff Association -LBISSA & LBIS Credit Union)  

Mrs. C. Wong, Head of Maths, has joined the school in 1993. She teaches Maths across the school -Middle and High Schools IGCSE and IB Diploma courses, including Maths Studies SL, Maths Standard Level and Maths Higher Level.  She has offered a range of exciting activities to the students for the past years. She has been a member of LBISSA and the Credit Union.  She is also an IB Assistant Examiner for Maths Higher Level Paper 1 script marking

Mr. Dewoo, the current High School Principal, joined LBIS in 1992 and acted as the Head of the Maths Department until 1996.  He has been teaching across the Middle and High School IGCSE and IB Diploma courses, including Maths Studies SL, Maths Standard Level and Maths Higher Level.  Mr. Dewoo’s credentials include a host of educational qualifications. In addition to his illustrious career as an educator, Mr. Dewoo has also served as Deputy Mayor of the Town of Curepipe in 1998 to become the Mayor thereafter in 2000. He has also been the chairman of the Agricultural Marketing Board from 2005 to 2008. Furthermore, he has acted as an IB Diploma Examiner for Maths Studies SL Paper 2 script marking.

Mrs. Coonlic has taught Maths across the school since Jan 2001. She has had the opportunity to teach the Middle School and the High School IGCSE and the IB Diploma courses including Maths Studies SL, Maths Standard Level and Maths Higher Level. She has also taught Maths at Ordinary and Advanced Levels courses.  She also shares the school’s Activities Coordinator ship with another colleague. Mrs. Coonlic is an experienced IB Internal Assessment moderator and a Diploma Examiner for Maths Studies SL paper 1 and 2 script marking. She has recently been appointed Deputy Chief Examiner for Maths Studies SL by the IBO. She has served LBISSA as the Public Relation Officer and the Treasurer for 3 years.

Mr. Maripa is well known for being the Maths Teacher with his challenging questions ever ready! He can boast himself for having a rich teaching career of over 20 years. He has taught Maths at Ordinary, Advanced, IGCSE and IB Diploma levels including Maths Studies SL, Maths Standard Level and Maths Higher Level. Mr. Maripa has been involved in many school activities- being the school first Activities Coordinator. He is always interested in community service driven activities. Mr. Maripa has served LBISSA as Treasurer for many years and President of LBIS Credit Union since its creation. Mr. Maripa is currently dedicating himself to celebrate a Pi (22/7) Day on the 22nd of July 2010.

 

Mr. Narang is a Maths teacher with 33 years of teaching career. He started as a lecturer in Statistics at the Institute of Chartered Accountants Of India. He has had the opportunity to publish a well known Maths Book on Algebra – Abstract Algebra/Boolean. Mr. Narang has been a part time lecturer at the Mauritius Institute of Education and the University Of Mauritius. He was a Maths Instructor in the UK before coming to Mauritius. He joined LBIS in Jan 2008. Since then, he has offered interesting activities to our students, namely, cricket and table tennis.   

Mrs. De Chalain has joined the school in 2003. She has recently been appointed Form 6 Coordinator. She has been involved in several community service driven activities like Duke of Edinburgh Award and LBIS CAS programmes. Mrs. De Chalain has taught across the school- Middle and High Schools IGCSE and IB Diploma courses, including Maths Studies SL and Maths Standard Level. She is also an IB Internal Assessment moderator for Maths Studies SL. She has served LBISSA as Secretary for many years.

Mr. Seechurn has joined LBIS on January 2010 as Maths teacher. He teaches Maths across the school – Middle and High Schools IGCSE and IB Diploma courses, including Maths Studies SL. He has obtained his BSc (Hons) in Mathematics at the University of North London and his PGCE Maths Secondary at the University of Wolverhampton, UK in 2001. He has been teaching Maths at the GCSE, AS and A2 levels at the Ernest Bevin College in London, UK, for about 6 years. Also, he has taught Maths at SC and HSC levels at the DAV College Morcellement St. Andre in Mauritius for about two and a half years whereby he has been occupying the position of Head of Maths. Currently, he is doing an MSC in Educational Administration and Technology at the University Technology of Mauritius.
