PHYSICAL EDUCATION AT LBIS
Physical education is achieved through a combination of physical activity with the mental processes of making decisions, selecting, refining, judging, shaping, adjusting and adapting. Students will develop, through physical education, qualities such as commitment, integrity, fairness, enthusiasm and concern for quality as well as success.
AIMS
Physical / Health:

to demonstrate good practice and understand the importance of warming up before and cooling down after exercise;

to improve their strength, stamina and suppleness through regular participation in sporting activities and exercise;

to be able to perform actions, using the body efficiently, safely and with control;

to raise awareness of the increasing need for good personal hygiene, particularly in relation to physical activities.
COURSE OUTLINE
This course is compulsory for all students of LBIS. The course meets twice every week in the Middle School and once in the High School in lessons of one period (65 mins).
Up to three or four activities are taught each term and include basketball, badminton, volleyball, aerobics, soccer, fitness, gymnastics, track and field, cross country, table tennis, handball and swimming which is practised off campus for the Middle School.
In addition to regular PE classes, IGCSE PE is offered as an option in Form 4, in the Creative, Technical and Vocational subjects group.
The syllabus provides candidates with an opportunity to study both the practical and theoretical aspects of Physical Education. It is also designed to foster enjoyment in physical activity and the knowledge gained should enable the pupils to develop an understanding of effective and safe physical performance.
Sports Facilities offered @ LBIS
1. The Multi-Purpose Hall.
This is fantastic indoor facility of 1200m2 that allows us to host international standard badminton, volleyball and basketball games. It shelters four badminton courts, one basketball court, twelve table-tennis tables, a weight-training area and floor gymnastics materials.

4. A tarmac with two basketball courts and volleyball courts.
