The Science Department is responsible for the teaching and learning of sciences within the school. When students start at LBIS in Form 1, we give them a chance to discover the marvel of science in their daily lives and in their surrounding. As they journey with us from Form 1 to Form 3, they are given the opportunity to discover Biology, Chemistry and Physics as individual science subjects.

At IGCSE and IB diploma level, students make their choices regarding which one or two sciences they will continue to study.  Yet, the sciences continue to be an integral part of their lives as they have to study at least one science subject to meet the requirement for ICE certificate or IB diploma.

Other than being responsible for the academic part of sciences, the Science Department also organizes several activities such as the annual science competition, quiz competition for Form 1, students’ anti-plastic campaign and paper recycling. We also encourage and prepare our students to participate in national competitions such as Annual Communication Contest and Science Challenge Competition organized by Rajiv Gandhi Science Centre.

The Science Department aims at promoting sciences as academic subjects as well as encourages students to apply their scientific knowledge to live as responsible and caring citizens of the world without jeopardizing their own survival and that of future generations.
